The intent for the product is for it not to be a “burn or no burn” tool, but a product to identify windows of opportunity for prescribed burning. It should be used as a prompt for Agencies to perform a detailed weather analysis (this may include requesting a Incident Weather Forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology) and to check fuel moisture contents in the field.

There are known limitations of the product such as fuel moisture recovery which may result in the model switching quickly from poor or too wet to possible.

It is designed for ridge top conditions and as such may not be a good predictor of prescribed burning potential in locations outside of ridge tops e.g. slopes and gullies.
